Ok, basically this *will not* be about anything that has already been covered in world/national news -- except for weather. Weather is one of my favorite topics (as you can tell by the tags, lol.)

Last Sunday I decided to go and see Jurassic Park in 3D, just because. It was a lot of fun too. I also noticed there was a movie called "42" playing, and I was wondering how I had missed learning about anything connected to 'Hitchhiker's Guide'. Of course, when I asked what it was about, *then* I learned it was a biopic of Jackie Robinson. ::facepalm:: In my defense, I would like to say that I seldom pay attention to sports movies unless they are about horse racing (Seabiscuit, Secretariat) or hockey (Slapshot, Miracle) and since I no longer have cable, this one slipped by me.

Today I took LeeAnn in to see the vet. When I picked her up for a cuddle Wednesday night, I thought she felt a bit ribby. So I decided I had better take her in and have her looked at to be sure, since we are officially in the last week before Christmas. I figured if she wasn't well, it was better to get things started now. And she did turn out to be ok, I'd at least have a current baseline.

SHE'S FINE!! YAY!! :) :) :)

Yes, I was just worrying because her weight is fine -- 7.5 lbs, normal temp and heart/lungs sounds good, etc. etc. ::whew:: I have to admit, I probably worry too much. But with possible bad weather on the way next week -- just in time for Christmas weekend of course (and it's a four-day weekend, too) it's much better to play it safe.

And in other news...

I didn't see "Avatar" at the midnight matinee (because of weather constraints only), so I am going to try and see it this weekend. Maybe a couple other movies as well; we'll have to see. Let's hope the weather holds, as I really should try and see Auntie and Uncle before Christmas.

LeeAnn went to the vet in Aurora yesterday for a dental cleaning. The cats were not too happy about this because when she came back, they smelled v*e*t on her and spent most of the time sniffing her and giving me the evil eye, lol. She slept most of the rest of the day/night and is now ready to go and help me get the mail. :)

Last night we had some major rain and lightning occur; altogether, about 4 inches of rain -- all at once, as in a few hours. Yikes! =(

Today, I go to Hastings for legal stuff -- assuming that Hwy. 6 is dried out by then.

Today I took Sister and Baby back to the vet because I was worried about their incisions. Unsurprisingly, they had removed the outer stomach stitches and Sister seems to have developed a minor hernia, so the vet decided to keep them until Monday and give them antibiotics and Sister might get an xray to double-check the hernia problem. Baby had to be pried out of the carrier but Sister came out willingly. And oh yes, it seems that might go into a "false heat" despite the surgery. Joy. Interestingly though, MamaKitty and Daughter don't seem to have this problem.

From there, I went to do a few errands and I intended to go to "The Water Horse" but I got totally wiped out while I was in a store and I just barely managed to check out w/o getting sick. I figure it was probably low blood sugar, or maybe just plain exhaustion because I have been ultra-tired the past few days. Anyway, I went to get some fast food and ordered a nice meal of fried grease [*snerk*] w/a chocolate shake and regular soda. It did help and I felt better after eating except that I still felt wiped out and unexpectedly chilly. Even after a trip to the grocery store, I didn't feel that much better. So instead of the movie, I went to visit my aunt and came home. A nice nap did help some; perhaps actually going to sleep before 9pm will be even better.

So I am logging off early and will be around tomorrow -- though I still might go and see "The Water Horse" if I am feeling better. In cold weather like this, matinees are a *must*! Niters everyone!

Yeah, today I broke down and called the vet, making sure to set up "financing" in advance. In other words, they're holding my check until the 23rd. I hated to do it, but the two smallest kittens weakened quite a bit overnight so I decided it was time for extreme measure. Luckily they have no virus, only roundworms and fleas. So a good dose of medicine and flea spray for them -- and their mama too -- means they should improve rapidly. I debated on taking her with me, but since they are still nursing (she hardly has any milk, but the nurturing is just as important) I decided to take her in as well. I was afraid she would reject them if she smelled the vet on them otherwise. I was most pleased with the vet and vet tech, they were very skilled and calm, and so mama and kittens were calm as well. (Then again, there were no shots.) Of course, this meant I had to throughly sterilize their cage when I got home (and probably will again tomorrow, once the worm medicine finishes working. Oh yeah, animal care is nothing if not glamorous.) So anyway... I have a tentative date to have mama spayed in December. She weighs about 7.5 lbs and the kittens weigh: 1 lb. 3 oz., 15 oz., 10 oz., and 5 oz. respectively. The two largest are hers, the smaller ones belong to her sister -- and there is only about a week between them in age. This is the second time I have seen cats willingly adopt another cats kittens. Oh sure, I know that if you "trick" them they do it but this the first time I have seen it when the cats are acting on their own volition.

In other news, I had to run out the Blazer after I got home (I had to bring in a pack of fresh bedding for mama and babies) and I surprised a big opossum snacking on the remains of the dry cat food. I spooked it good; it was so panicked it took several minutes for it to remember to climb *over* the fence instead of trying to run through it. Luckily there was enough light from the house (it was full dark out) so I could see it climb over the fence -- I had zero interest in panicking it so that it might decide to attack if it decided I was too close. I honestly didn't see it at first but I will definitely be on guard from now on. No wonder LeeAnn goes so crazy barking at night.
