Christmas & Holiday Card Post II
Nov. 21st, 2015 09:26 pmNot sure if I actually posted this earlier (as in sometime last month) or not but anyway...
If you would like a card, just ask. This post is screened, so please leave your address here or pm me. I don't mind sending to overseas addresses either. :)
Also, please let me know if my cards actually arrive or not. (I have the feeling that *sometimes* they might not be arriving at all, or arriving very late. *sigh*)
(If you'd rather do e-cards, that's fine too.)

Today's News and Weather Report
Dec. 17th, 2011 09:01 amThe weather is supposed to be fairly nice, so today will be Errand Day. I hadn't really planned on it but I have to take the chance and do some basic shopping. Mostly groceries; things are exceptionally tight this month because my new car really increased my insurance *because* it is so new. Eeeek! Oh well. I did change insurance companies, and I am getting a better deal for a little less money. The premiums will be due June 1st and Dec. 1st (instead of July 1st and January 1st, which was awkward.) I hate to think what my gas bill will be; that is going to be *high*. Ugh. But no way around it -- luckily my gas bill is pretty minimal the rest of the year.
Oh and guess what? Late last night I discovered that all of the cards I had addressed and *thought* I sent, were actually still in their bin, all ready to go. ::facepalm:: I am so sorry, everyone. I thought they had been mailed, honest! Because I knew I had them ready to mail weeks ago, I thought they had been sent and I just forgot to make a note of it. So, they will be later than expected but they will still arrive. Just not as soon as I had hoped.

Christmas/Holiday Cards for 2011
Nov. 14th, 2011 07:19 pmYes, it's Christmas Card time. :)
If you would like a Christmas Card from me, please comment here with your address. (All comments will be screened.) Or send me an email or PM if you'd like. :)
Note: Even if I have your address from last year, please comment again so I can make sure I have the right address and you get one.
I like to send all over the world, so don't be shy.
I will probably start sending out cards around the first week of December 1st (though hopefully earlier for non-US/Canada addresses.)

Today's News and Weather Report
Dec. 6th, 2010 11:19 pmNot much new for me; I worked on Christmas cards today. The cough remains so I will probably have to go to dr. again, and soon. So not looking forward to that, believe me.
The weather has been unusually nice here and I have been watching the nasty weather that is hitting the South and thinking about Donna. She hated cold winter weather; she claimed "the beach weather is always perfect." Heh. She would have hated this cold spell. I still miss her terribly though.
Time for a few more reviews and then bed.

Today's News and Weather Report
Nov. 29th, 2010 12:04 pmI thought I had better post while I was able to get online. The weather plays utter havoc with my connection; I have spent the whole T'Day holiday offline more than on. Of course this would happen on a major holiday, *Of Course*.
There are still high wind warnings out and we are just seeing the first flakes of snow come down. I had planned to go to dr. this am but I decided to play it smart and stay inside. Though I probably will get the mail and stuff, if only so I can get the Blazer warmed up good.
So yeah, I'm not doing much other than Christmas cards and drinking loads of hot tea.
Oh, and I still need a beta. Anyone? Please?
Back later on. *Maybe*.

More Christmas Cards!
Dec. 30th, 2009 12:32 pmYes, there were *more* cards in the mail today! ::does happy dance:: Thank yous to:
chaotic_binky [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and
spiced_wine.
If you sent me a card and I haven't thanked you yet, it is probably because your card is visiting the Twilight Zone, better known as "snail mail."

More Christmas Cards!
Dec. 22nd, 2009 12:40 pmIt appears that the Twilight Zone is officially part of snail mail because I got so many cards today! Some of them were from local towns (less than 20 miles away from me), and postmarked *before* Dec. 1st. ::boggles:: So if I don't list your name today, your card is probably on its way.
Thank yous to:
caruso
cornflake2912
esteliel
legomyarrow
idra and
slytherinblack. Your cards are lovely! *hugs*
In other news, the weather. So far, so good but it's going to be bad soon. The weather forecasts are not too good, and people are being told: "If you're going someplace, go today and not tomorrow." Which has only convinced *me* to stay home, because the weather will probably start turning bad before night and the traffic is probably crazy enough with people running around with last minute errands/shopping.
There's plenty of food (for the human and the furries), so we're good. Time to just get ready to hibernate, imho. Back later on.

Christmas Cards Arrive
Dec. 11th, 2009 05:32 pmI got cards today! :) Thank-yous go out to:
bkm5191
boltonia
candygramme
mdarkdreamer
numenora
pecos
perkyandproud and
thought_ribbons. They are lovely and I have them safely displayed where kitty paws cannot reach. Btw, if you sent one and don't see your name listed, please be patient. The weather can slow the mail by 2-3 days if it's bad enough, so... fingers crossed.
I had to walk downtown since the road grader had pretty well buried the Blazer. I don't mind digging out -- I've done it enough. But if I can stand on top of the snow without sinking in right away, then it's frozen f'n *solid* (unsurprising with the wind chills we've had) and there is just no way I am going to try and dig out by hand, nor am I going to try and break through with the Blazer. But some nice person came by with a blade and dug me out, so I am mobile once more. Yay! [Someone must have either seen me walking or heard me tell the checker at the store that I was on foot.]
I also sent *more* cards, and got bills paid. So things are slowly but surely getting back on track after almost a week of being slowed down. Ok, time to fix supper! Back later on.
Thank you again, everyone!

Today's News and Weather Report
Dec. 6th, 2009 02:59 pmI looked outside and discovered that it was snowing. I had been trying to get most of my card list finished so yes, I was surprised. Snow has been predicted a lot but there hasn't been any until now. There isn't a lot but it is measurable -- whether or not it will stick is another story though. We'll see.
Btw, if anyone would like a card -- Christmas or holiday -- let me know by PM, ok? :)
Back to the cards now.

Christmas Card List
Nov. 15th, 2009 10:52 amI am finishing my Christmas card list, which means getting ready to send out Christmas cards this next week or so. Try not faint on me, ok? ;) So... if anyone would like a card, please let me know.
Oh, and just in case you collect stamps, or if you are collecting them for someone -- do you want traditional Christmas stamps, or other stamps? Designs I have: lighthouses, 1950's cars, Tiffany stained glass design, and assorted flowers/floral design(s) as well.

How Cold Is It Today?
Dec. 16th, 2008 01:10 pm*Wicked* cold, single digits but the wind chill means it's well below zero. Meh. Even with the furnace at 70, it's still freaking chilly inside the house -- Yikes!! :(
I am getting the last of the family cards done and will be heading out in a few minutes to start the car and get them mailed. So for once I am a little bit ahead of the game.
I called my aunt in Hastings today because yesterday her line was busy (i.e., off the hook). She could not hear me at all this morning, even when I yelled into the phone so I had to speak to my uncle. Why oh *why* will people get glasses and false teeth with no problem, and yet they will flat-out *refuse* to get a hearing aid?? Arrrggghhh!!!! ::head desk head desk head desk:: Even worse, I don't think a hearing aid is going to do her a lot of good at this point. Oh well. And as a result, I have a freakin' *bitch* of a headache from yelling over the phone. Why was I stupid and do that in the first place? *le sigh* Nevermind...
Back later on I guess.

(no subject)
Dec. 12th, 2008 11:40 amI am busy writing Christmas cards and going through Christmas decorations. Alas, many are neither cat or dog friendly, so I am being extra careful putting things out. My "tree" is now a window cling, otherwise the cats become delusional and think they are birds, perching in the tree (real or artificial, no difference to them) creating less than holiday-resulting thoughts on my part while my little dog nearly barks herself hoarse at the purring Christmas tree. I am sure it would be wonderful in a movie though. If only I could have A.S.C. following my name (as in: Sam Lastname, A.S.C.), I would be rich. XD
Last Call for Cards
Dec. 1st, 2008 08:53 amIf anyone else would like a Christmas or holdiday card from me by snail mail, please send me your address -- and your preference, if you have one. I'm screening comments, so you don't have to worry about your address being public. The offer is good for *all* of my sibs, including any Euro or Aussie-Far Eastern sibs as well. (Actually, a card I snail mailed to Germany arrived in only four days, which is either really really fast, or a fluke, I'm not sure which.)
Ok, it is time now to deal with the dreaded 'Real World'. Back later.

The Ice Storm Cometh
Nov. 30th, 2007 05:53 pmYup, according to the local tv weather, it's gonna start about midnight and it's gonna be *bad*. There are already a bunch of cancellations scrolling along the bottom of the screen, with more to come. Oh. Yay. ::leSigh:: Oh well if nothing else, I should get most of my Christmas cards done -- except for the prezzies. My cousin Donna is getting a gift card to Borders or Barnes and Noble [maybe even iTunes], not sure what but at least I'll know she's not spending it on booze or anything else of the sort. As for my aunties, I have no clue. None. Zero. Zip. Nada. Warm slippers I guess though they probably have enough pairs to go for an entire winter and not even get one pair slightly scuffed.
Back later on, as long as the power holds out.
