Ok, most of you probably know me as samtyr from over at elJ. I tried to use the same name here but when I was first setting this up, one of my cats unplugged my computer. And since I was a beginner w/o anyone to ask for help, I had to alter my name a little. My default icon (whom I call zen cat) has remained the same though. ZC is my first icon and I strongly doubt I will ever get rid of her.
I'll probably add more to this later on.

Back from Vacation
May. 31st, 2026 06:17 pmI went on a brief vacation last week. It was a tour that highlighted the trains of Colorado -- *Not* Amtrak.
Let me tell you, the narrow gauge RR from to Durango to Silverton is amazing! I highly recommend it. And the cog train up Pike's Peak is another must. However. One thing you have to remember about the mountains is altitude. If you do not live in a fairly mountainous area (i.e., above sea level), you need to be aware of this and prepare. Denver, while known as the Mile-High City, does not count.
To best enjoy Pike's Peak, bundle up good. It is above the treeline, and it is very *very* windy. Amazing views though. You can literally see for miles. So definitely keep it in mind for a "to do" list.
Now I am off to take a nap. Take care everyone and please stay safe!

RIP to Jessi Pierce and her three children, who died in a house fire on Saturday. She was an amazing hockey journalist who was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

Jan. 24th, 2026 04:37 pmSo, it's been weird. Mostly due to weather. *sigh* I finally got fiber optic installed for my internet, and that is a big plus. However, I failed to inform my cats of this ahead of time and they are finally coming out of "the trauma" that happened on Wednesday, lol. Poor little furballs.
The weather has gotten very cold but the worst of it seems to have avoided it. I am in hibernation mode until maybe Tuesday.
