The Week In Review

Ok, basically this *will not* be about anything that has already been covered in world/national news -- except for weather. Weather is one of my favorite topics (as you can tell by the tags, lol.)
Last Sunday I decided to go and see Jurassic Park in 3D, just because. It was a lot of fun too. I also noticed there was a movie called "42" playing, and I was wondering how I had missed learning about anything connected to 'Hitchhiker's Guide'. Of course, when I asked what it was about, *then* I learned it was a biopic of Jackie Robinson. ::facepalm:: In my defense, I would like to say that I seldom pay attention to sports movies unless they are about horse racing (Seabiscuit, Secretariat) or hockey (Slapshot, Miracle) and since I no longer have cable, this one slipped by me.
Other than that, things have been pretty quiet, for the most part. I have been watching dvds in preparation for my next attempt at a bigbang (a multi-verse x-over, lol) which of course means I must watch all of the LoTR-EE dvds -- and a few other relevant series and movies that may or may not come into play. We shall see. Ah, the suffering we must endure for our art... ::gets out halo polish::
On a more mundane level, I have been cleaning house since we have clean-up day coming up. It was supposed to be today (Saturday the 20th) but only yesterday I discovered it will be *next* Saturday (the 27th) instead. *SIGH* The really annoying part is that I had asked some friends to help, and they said sure, just let us know a week in advance -- which I did, and they agreed to help on Thursday & Friday evening. So Monday, I checked back and they now said *maybe* only Friday night... which just makes me... >>.<< So I just said forget it, and then we got the mini-blizzard, and now this delay. I won't be asking them again though because this sort of thing happens way too often and I am sick of it.
The mini-blizzard on Thursday (so named by me because it lasted only a few hours and melted very fast) was a headache. I heard the wind come up and I knew that meant the next day I would be staying inside for the most part -- and I did. The bad part was that little Naz had started feeling sick the night before so that I was thisclose to making an emergency run to the vet Wed. night even though the roads were icy and getting icier. The ER vet said to give him half of a baby aspirin and see what happened. Well, that worked for a few hours and then -- let's just say that he lived up to his name of Nazgul. Just in case you have forgotten...
Yeah. Imagine listening to that off and on for over 24 hrs. and let me tell you, you will be wanting beers -- many many beers. I was sorely tempted but all I had was some Guinness (a joke gift from a friend on St. Patrick's Day) and a couple of wine coolers left over from... New Year's Eve maybe? Dunno. Anyway, I knew I would have to take him to the vet Friday so I didn't dare risk it. But it was close! Egad, was it ever close!
The vet checked him over and found nothing specifically wrong (though he did ask if that was his normal bark and I said yes, it just didn't seem to stop this time though, which got me a Look) and then he gave Naz a combo shot of antibiotic and steroid, and said to call back on Monday. Last night he finally seemed a bit more himself and today he has been almost normal -- although his bark still lives up to his name. Hopefully he will still be ok tomorrow and Monday -- who knows?
Ttyl!
