I have my car back!! Yes!!!

It wasn't quite as bad as I feared: it was "the bolt" that is somehow part of the starter (just... do not ask. That's what was on the repair bill.) and *of course* it was a $10 part, but the rest of the bill (labor & taxes) ran just under $200. *sigh* But hey, I have transportation again, which is the most important thing of all. :)

As for S., well it turns out he had a triple bypass. @_@ So he is going to be recovering and laid up for awhile. He said that the dr. was "very persuasive" about him having the surgery; since I know what drs. have to deal with when their patient is a bull-headed male, I can guess what was said. There are always ways to present choices -- am I right, nurses?

Also, today was just gorgeous out -- and tomorrow (and Friday, and Saturday and Sunday and Monday) there will be snow and other icky stuff. ::headesk:: It figures.

Well, today was a really weird screwed-up day even by my standards.

For those who don't feel up to reading the longer version...

I decided to run a quick errand at K-Mart. The Blazer started rough but seemed ok, so errand accomplished, I started home, intending to stop downtown for yet another quick snack. And just as I was driving along, on 2nd St., the Blazer quit. As in the battery light came on, and there was zero power -- except for the steering for which I was very grateful. I managed to glide into a parking space, and then I started making calls. First to the accountant to give him the heads up on what had happened and I would be facing a 'unknown' repair job & tow, and then to the mechanic I use to "fix stuff." The mechanic/tow truck came (at least I don't have to worry about an impound fee from the City of Hastings) and he *thinks* it is only the fuel pump but he isn't sure because he has so many jobs ahead that he won't be able to look at it until W/Th. at the soonest...

>>.<<

So I called Summer but I couldn't reach her, so I did the next thing, which was to call Shockey -- who, ironically had just arrived in Harvard from his work site in Hastings, so he had to double back just to give me a ride back.

zzzzzzz

As for today, I have spent it napping off and on. I am *so tired* and my neck, shoulders and back really ache from all of the tension. Ugh.

Oh yes, and I am watching the snow come down in big, fat, soft flakes. Very pretty, so far.

Well, yesterday was an incredibly *long* day, so I am going to a cut now. Also **a lot** about funerals and funeral customs and a bit of dark humor, so be warned.

I went to sleep in the middle of an IM w/ C. -- sorry, hon! So when I finally woke up from falling asleep on my laptop, I crawled into bed. I slept for about 20 minutes and woke up with a raging headache, chilled to the bone from the cool wind blowing in my window. So I got up, closed the window, took a sleeping tab -- and now I am kinda/sorta awake and feeling like utter shite. It feels like my skull is splitting open, my eyes hurt, my neck hurts, you name it and it probably hurts or aches. Oh, and I have a wonderful bruise on my shoulder from the new bookshelves I bought yesterday and have yet to put together. I was going to do that today -- now, I dunno -- maybe later? We'll see.

Yesterday I brought my car home after marrying it. An $850 repair bill :::boggles::: -- yeah, I think that qualifies, right? Right. Heh. Lucky me. Oh well, at least I do have it once more.

I think I will fix a nice big batch of soup, that should help me feel better.

Back later on.

It sounds as if it might get kinda nasty later on this afternoon/night so I'm posting now while the weather isn't too bad. It's windy though, there are high wind warnings out. Yay.

I got the car repair bill, which is right at $875.00. ::gulps:: Yeah, that pretty much killed any hope I had of getting some other *necessary* house repairs done but oh well. The part that went bad was the injection assembly ($530) and the labor was $108. The towing from here to Hastings and running diagnostics came to $176.15. And there was one additional gasket(?) that needed replaced as well (otherwise I would have had to take it right back for it to be fixed as well), so... yeah. Kinda steep, but the parts & labor are guaranteed for 1 year which helps. I just wish I could have gotten Sam to help me coax it to the shop in Hastings, that would have saved quite a bit. But sometimes things just can't be helped. Damn and double damn.

The one good thing is that I already had my utility bills paid, so that is one less worry for this month. The bad news is -- no chance to buy groceries other than milk, etc. and garden things to plant as intended. Meh. I also had to put my neuter/spay plans on hold indefinitely again which is a big worry in itself. But there's no help for it. And so it goes.
