Well, today was a really weird screwed-up day even by my standards.

Things were actually going good, or so I thought. Silly silly me. I did a couple of necessary errands (my accountant & dropping off some pics for Uncle J.'s "memorial collage") and then I met Summer for lunch. From there, it was off to drop some books to trade, and some too-small clothes at the thrift store -- time to head home. So far, so good.

And then *IT* happened.

My starter went out. Yup, almost two months to the day -- and even weirder, almost exactly four blocks away from the first break down in December) my starter finally went out. ::headdesk, headdesk, headdesk::

So it was time to make some very frantic calls, because naturally I had to call for a tow (and the tow didn't think they would be able to pick me up until around 4 pm or so), *then* called my accountant, where I had forgotten my checkbook. Then I tried to set up a ride home with S. (since he works in Hastings) only to find out that S. is in the hospital in Lincoln! @_@ Good grief!

And then... my cell phone died. :: headdesk, headdesk, headdesk:: The battery has been iffy for a *long* time but since I only talk on it when it's on the charger and being charged, I manage ok. But I've had it like forever and it's practically my default phone number, so I keep it. So not only do I have no car, but no cell phone either. >>.<<

About that time the accountant's "grad student help" came and drove me back there so I had a phone and could make some calls. I called Summer to see if I could get a ride back but she was in the middle of her work, so she wasn't able to get off right away. So it was back to the car courtesy of the grad student, and I had just enough charge on the phone by now (it was plugged in their car, btw) only to discover that the tow truck had called four times and was waiting for me to show up with the key! @_@

We finally got there, the car was towed and I went along to pay the tow bill -- and then Summer picked me up about ten minutes later at the repair shop, dropped me off at her house and went back to her work.... To make this story just a teeny bit shorter, I ended up having supper with Summer and her husband and their family, and I just walked in the door about a half-hour ago.

As for what will happen next? I have no idea. Zero, zip, nada. I have no idea how much the starter will cost or even if it worth repairing. Which it kinda/sorta is -- but that was something I was going to discuss with my accountant in a couple of months when I had a better idea of what I could afford... *maybe*.

Now, it is time for bed. Stay tuned for the next exciting episode...
