Grande Galerie des Glaces

Remember how I was complaining about the heat yesterday, and how finally I got my window a/c's hooked up and running? Well guess what! Sometime during the night, it started to cool off and by this morning (and all day!) it was a good 25+ *Lower* than it has been. We went from temps in the high 80's and 90's to not quite 70 all day today. And the rest of the week is going to be pretty much the same! I even had to turn the furnace off because it was so cool that it actually clicked back on about 10 am. Good grief! =(

Today Sam S. came to help me catch up on mowing the lawn and do some serious trimming around the yard as well. All of that hot humid weather plus humongous rains made the lawn just grow like crazy. It all looks nice now though -- or at least for a few days, lol!

Tomorrow I think I will try and clean out the fridge, so that I can get rid of all yucky stuff out by Wednesday when the dumpsters come around.

Another really nice day, though the sun was slow in coming out. But it was so nice and warm when it did! :)

Yesterday, I was finally able to get some help just barely in time for clean-up day. A couple of young college guys stopped by and spent about 4 hours cleaning stuff up -- the 'grunt' kind of stuff, like cutting down some small trees and other heavy yard work. They brought a chainsaw, yay!! [I can do a lot of work, just not super-heavy stuff anymore as my back is iffy enough. And while my ankle is much better too, it still does twinge a bit. Ah well.] I have to admit that the yard hasn't looked this good in years.

The indoor cats and my little dog were most upset though I imagine it was due to all the noise and hearing people walking around the house. I did not tell them my plans! This was unauthorized! How dare I disrupt things like that! But all was forgiven once the noms came out, lol. And the outdoor cats basically disappeared until it started getting late afternoon/early evening because they don't want to miss last call for food.

So today I have been limping around, stiff and sore but feeling much better now that *something* was finally done! Whew! It will probably be an early night then, so I will be around more tomorrow.

I had planned to write but instead I did some yard work yesterday. Unfortunately, the lady who came to help came over at the hottest part of the day (about 5pm), and then *stayed* for about 3 hrs, until 8:30. *sigh* I wish she hadn't come over because I got way too hot, despite being in the shade and the the mosquitoes just nommed me to bits. I have huge patches of bites all over -- for real, I am so not kidding about this. The spray I used just did not work well, so I will have to try something else. Which I *hate*, because I am so damned hyper-sensitive to things. Worst of all, the furkids want to comfort me by *licking* me, especially after I have put itch-stop stuff on. They always look so hurt when I push them away, but damn. :/

So my writing plans did not happen, and I will have to try again tonight.

There was a short t-storm last night too. Luckily I got the windows on the Blazer rolled up before that happened though.

Today I have stayed inside.
