The weather was much nicer than yesterday so I got (almost) caught up with laundry. I also did a bit of yard work. Other than that, not much.

The meds seem to be helping but I am still sneezing and coughing. Meh.

Tomorrow, more errands as I need a *good* landline phone. ::eyeroll:: So far, the only one I can find is an iffy old one (which I intend to donate somewhere as soon as possible.) I had planned to stay up a bit later but I think I will go to bed early isntead.

Also, I did some writing. No other news for now.

So, you're getting a land line phone again? What sparked this?

Several years ago I treated myself to cordless phones for Xmas. It was such a trial getting the phone before that! I'd be wrapped up in a blanket on the couch with cats in my lap and a crochet project in my hands. My phone service was set to switch to voicemail after 4 rings. I almost never made it to the phone before 4 rings!

So, cordless phones were a must! I still keep a hard lined phone in the closet for those times when the power goes out and the cordless phones quit working.

I know what you mean! I will probably get a corded one again because I know I have the old cordless one here *somewhere*. ;) Lately nearly everyone I talk to on the phone claim they can't hear me because: (a) it's faint (b) bad reception (c) dropped calls or (d) something else. Plus my cell phone is about at the end of its usefulness.

Unfortunately, most of the companies/plans I am interested in seem to get bad reception where I live. (I had friends from out-of-town helping me w/yard work a couple of weeks ago and they told me that they missed a lot of calls and the ones that they did get had bad reception. And they have very new, top-of-the-line, fancy phones, all bells and whistles -- not just the basic one I have. Which weirdly, seemed to get the best reception of all.)

Either that, or they tend to be restricted (?) to Omaha/Lincoln which means I would be hit with massive roaming charges.

So I decided to go back to a landline. I don't go that much anyway, and I think I can make my little old cell phone to hold out while I drive back and forth to... wherever, lol.

Totally understand the roaming! When I lived in a house in the country with my best friend, my Tracfone was always on roaming - 6 mls from town and on roaming!

Also understand the bad reception. Where my folks live is a hollow surrounded by hills. If I want to use my cell phone I have to go outside and walk up a hill. Only, now there's a cougar in the area so now I drive up a hill and don't get out of the car! :)

Yeah, the roaming is a pain. But I have to admit that my little Tracphone has been worth its weight in well, gold. The reception up until the last few months has been excellent. I think it's the battery but a new battery would probably cost more than a new phone. Ah well.

I don't know why the reception is so bad here when it's so flat. My cousin Donna always complained about her cell reception; she said it was due to how the cell towers were positioned, iirc.

As for the cougar, eek! I can understand you not getting out of the car! (Hope that your parents are safe as well.)
