Today's News and Weather Report
Mar. 5th, 2011 07:52 pmLots of yakking and rambling, so I'm cutting this now.
Well, no word from the insurance adjuster yet. *Hopefully* they will be here on Monday -- but that is *IF* we do not get the major snow/blizzard that is currently being predicted. *lesigh* [Also, I think I will have to change insurance companies because I seriously do not think they will help out much, if at all. They'll just take a look and say: "too bad, so sad." Why yes, I am cynical about this.]
In other news, stuff got moved out of the house I was planning to move into in Hastings. At least it will be in a secure location. And of course, lots of my good stuff either got totally ruined (leaky garage roof = wet moldy drek) or has already been stolen. *lesigh*
I met Summer for lunch but we hardly had a chance to talk because she was on her lunch break. She did manage to tell me that her husband *adores* the dvd I loaned them -- 'Seabiscuit'. She got him the dvd of 'Secretariat' for his birthday last month, which he has basically watched nonstop since then. [g] Only now, he alternates between the two dvds. She is half-amused by this and half-irked because she says that he he just gets "all dreamy-eyed" when he watches them. {And I know we all know that feeling when it comes to a fandom, am I right? ;) Also, she is rapidly going nuts hearing the same dvds playing over and over again, lol! I can hardly wait to loan him my dvd of 'Hidalgo'. [vbeg]}
When I got home, Mike H. was in the yard and wanted to know if he could buy one of the small sinks I had in the yard because it is just the size he needs. (Note: S. dropped them off ages ago but I couldn't lift them out of the yard because of my back.) So... I told Mike I didn't mind but I needed one of them to replace my old bathroom sink first. And because I live in such a little old house, my bathroom is *very small*. As in, there is literally only enough room for tub, sink and commode. And these two sinks are just the right size, just over 15" wide and mounted on the wall. No cabinet, no vanity, nothing. So we talked things over and he agreed to help me replace my sink in exchange for one of them. And lo and behold, they are literally identical. They are also made of cast iron. :) So Mike helped me get one of them inside the garage but the other was frozen in the ground. We tried to dig it out but unsurprisingly, the ground is *very* frozen, no thaw at all. About them I got one of my rare bright ideas and asked him if he could use a car jack. Genius! So he went home, drove all of one block over with his car and we jacked the sink out of the ground and put it in the garage, and once the insurance guy is here, we will tackle the job of replacing the sink.
So, that was my day. Now it is time to kick back and relax and watch some tv. "Rise of the Lycans" will be on SyFy in just a couple of minutes and I definitely want to focus on that. (SyFy has a marathon of the 'Undeerworld' movies, so I've been watching the earlier two -- research, you know. ;)
Back later on. Or not, depending on how tired I am.
