Checking Back In
Dec. 16th, 2010 09:44 amFirst of all, a big thank you and hugs to everyone who has offered condolences. It means so much to me, really it does. I promise I will get back to you in a day or so.
As for everything else, here's a rundown of yesterday (??), and probably for tomorrow as well.
Yesterday was spent mostly either online or on the phone, with relatives and learning their plans. My cousin Jim from LA came in late last night, just *barely* ahead of the nasty bit of weather we had. Some freezing sleet, anyone? Yeah, so lucky. So now I am waiting for the little ice pellets covering my sidewalk to melt just a bit and I'll be on my way. It's not much, just enough to crunch good when you step... and then there is still the ice factor. Luckily the sun is out, which helps immensely. So I will be meeting Jim later on for lunch.
I talked to Paul B., and neither he nor his mom and dad will be able to come from Chicago. A two-day drive, and flying is prohibitive... I really do not understand because I was certain if anyone would be here, they would. So for none of them not to be here is *majorly strange*. I am wondering just what the real reason is, and if it is health-related. I suppose I will find out later. Even though Carol works in health care, still...
Lyn P. is probably in Omaha by now, with her grandma (and my aunt) Lee (who turned 100 in July, remember?) Aunt Lee took the news really hard; she has no siblings left and only one of her children left (my cousin Mickey -- called so because he is a big Mickey Mouse fan, has been since childhood.) Though at least she has a lot of grand and great-grandchildren living nearby, which will help.
The funeral is actually tomorrow but I am going in today to be with family. *sighs* This is always so hard. Talk to you all later on, I guess.
