I love my new slow cooker! :) Tomorrow I will try another soup recipe, vegetarian barley I think. I'll let you know what happens. My first soup turned out amazingly well, and I have been nomming on it all weekend.

I also got the news that my old bike is pretty well shot; I need new rims *and* tires, which is will basically cost the same as an entire new bike. So I have been looking at new bikes online. There a lot of nice models, so I am having a lot of fun looking. Something very basic though, as I have achieved full couch potato status long ago and a fancy model would just be wasted. :/ Still, there is something to be said for quality, and I really do not want to give my money to the Evil Empire (even though they have supposedly 'nice, cheap' models.)

Writing continues. I will probably be asking for a beta soon, one who is comfortable w/mpreg.

The weather has been really nice but it is definitely cooler. The first frost will be soon, I think.

I made stew tonight, despite the heat. They had 7 blade roast on sale and I got a HUGE one and made stew meat. Nummers!

There's nothing quite as tasty as homemade soup, of any variety, is there.

As for writing... mostly LotR, but I'm also trying to rewrite/update a couple of old fics from my XF days.

Is the mpreg fic a LOTR fic? I'll put my hand up to beta for you if I don't need to have extensive knowledge of how the characters are supposed to behave. (Unless you have someone else to do it already in which case... never mind. *g*)

Yes, it's a LOTR mpreg fic. :) Well, there's two stories. The one that is most demanding right now is a backstory for some key characters and most of all I want them to be plausible. So if you're still interested?

Have you checked Kmart? This last year they've had more old fashioned styles from before gears and handlebar breaks. Yes, fat tires and coaster breaks! I was tempted but knew there was no way I could carry one up 3 flights of stairs to the apartment.

I've looked mostly online but I suppose I will probably go to Kmart or a local bike store. Just to make sure I get an old-fashioned one designed for couch potatoes. Anything too fancy would just be wasted -- to say nothing of being way too intimidating. I already have a bike helmet though. :)

I can understand how lugging a bike up three flights would be a deal breaker (but it would be a great cardio workout, lol. ;)
