About Last Night

Wow, talk about storms! We had 'em last night! It started just after my last post but it didn't actually show up here until about 11:45 or so. Lots of very loud thunder to start; then wind, rain, lightning and tiny hail like wow!! The rain just freaking *poured* down and I swear I could feel the thunder in my bones (I know how weird that must sound). One lightning strike was so bright that I could see every house just as clear as if it was full sun. As for the wind -- I know the gusts had to be over 50mph. Just how much more I'm not sure. But yeah, a wild night and tonight promises to be just like it. Yikes!

The furkids all tore around the house, freaking out before they found places to hide -- in some dirty laundry, of course. :p I discovered later that one of the cats knocked over the laundry basket (it was on top of the washing machine) and they shared out the goods among themselves. *sigh* Apparently that is the most soothing, calming scent of all.

So now I will be busy picking up some branches and such once the grass dries a little bit more.



EDIT: I just found out that according to some sources, the wind gusts were 70mph.

Wow! I'm so glad that you the furkids came through the scariness unharmed. I would probably have been just as freaked out, ending up in my laundry, too! *hugs*

Oh yeah, they're mostly used to storms but every so often it's more scary than usual.

Sounds like it was one hell of a storm. I know exactly what you mean about feeling the thunder in your bones. When it's that close, it does seem to be right inside you. Hope your home is nice and snug and you're all safe from the elements!

Heh, yeah it was. Actually, I think it was two separate fronts that moved through about an hour or so apart. :/ But we're all safe and sound.

I hope you didn't have to spend your whole day picking up the wreckage, especially since there's supposed to be more storms tonight! Though maybe they'll stay SE of here *crosses fingers* but the winds already picking up, as long as it blows the damn humidity away, far far away!

Yeah, nothing like living right in the middle of Tornado Alley. But weirdly, Denver has been getting some twisters too.
