Writing Meme
Jan. 2nd, 2010 11:32 pmYet another writing meme; ganked from one of my LotR sibs:
1. What have you written this year?
In "LotR":
Gifts - 4
Finished - 2
Misc. - 3
WIP's - 6
In "XFiles/Highlander/NLC's":
WIPs - 2
Other WIP's - 4
2. Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Less than I expected but then there was a lot of legal stuff that was going on most of the year, and I can't write when there is weird stress IRL.
3. What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in 2008?
Probably Silm/First Age characters.
4. Did you take any writing risks this year?
Of course! Writing -- or any other creative endeavor, I might add -- is automatically taking a risk.
5. Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
Oh definitely! They are:
a) Songfic
b) B'day fic
c) Prezzies - 4
d) WIPs - 6 (that I can access easily on Vista and Open Office)
e) TBD [after late January and/or after 7 March '10] - 3 or 4
Btw, I'm not trying to be cute by not listing titles since (for me) the title is usually thought of last. I have to know what the fic is before I name it, and a lot of them just have working titles [Example of title: 1-prezzie4name-4, which means it's the first prezzie for whomever, and the number of rewrites I've gone through.] One of the few times I did come up with a title early, and it makes everyone who sees it think it's bdsm fic when actually it's a pretty gen kidfic.
6. Story Most Underappreciated by the Universe?
I have no idea. Really.
7. Most fun?
"Morning Yearning" -- that one just wrote itself in a couple of hours.
8. Most disappointing?
That would be any fic I haven't finished yet. :(
9. Sexiest Story?
I have no idea.
10. Sexiest Moment?
Again, I have no idea.
11. Hardest to Write?
That would be all of them since I am something of a 'Method' writer. It can be emotionally draining to get in the headspace of certain characters and there are times when I just have to back away and work on something else. Of course, the weird stuff IRL can totally put me off writing as well. [The combination is not an easy one to deal with, believe me.]
12. Most Unintentionally Telling?
I'm often surprised to find out what others discover in my writing, so... probably almost all of them, if you read them right.
