I am watching cable -- there is a 'Matrix' marathon on right now, so you know what that means... "The Prisoner" mini-series will start tonight. I'm looking forward to that. It's been *ages* since I saw the original series, even in re-runs. (They did re-run it, right?) And oh yes...

there will be no "nice, kind Lord Elrond" fics inspired from this but rather the "dark, evil Master Elrond" fics.

I loved the Prisoner, even though it damaged my mind even more than the Matrix. :D I had no clue what was happening. But it was filmed not far from where one of my uncle's lives, the strange Italianate village of Portmeirion in North Wales; now you can stay there at a hotel, and a lot of Prisoner fans do go there.

I know what you mean -- I think it is watching all those "odd old shows" as a youngster that made me into, ahem, *who* I am today.

I have not been to Portmeirion in years, (it's damned expensive!) but this site has some lovely thumbnails too click on images of the village.

It's a beautiful area; it just seems strange, as north Wales is notorious for rain (although the coast, where Portmeirion is, is not as bad as the mountains a little inland) so to see that colorful, Mediterranean village is a bit of a *blink-blink* experience. Sometimes in the Prisoner you can see shots of the mountains inland, and I love it. I think that was half the reason they shot it though; the occasional backdrop to this candy-colored place is jarring, which I think it is meant to be.

Uhh, I was just reminded of Twin Peaks; that was strange too.

"Twin Peaks" was a great series. I really loved that show. :) If it had been a series on HBO, I am sure it would have been much "edgier."
