Today's News and Weather Report
Nov. 1st, 2009 08:45 pmToday was lovely weather, warm and beautiful. I did some heavy laundry (blankets, quilts) and put them outside to dry. Since it was so nice I was wearing some cut-offs and a t-shirt; when Shockey stopped by and saw how my calf looked, he just shook his head after turning pale. (Actually I won't repeat what he said when he first saw it; you can probably imagine, lol). It's still bruised and swollen -- very impressive-looking. I told him what had happened and he just shook his head some more and asked if I saw a doctor. I said yes, plus a tetanus shot and a round of antibiotics. Since he works construction and is no stranger to doing a quick patch-up job on site when needed, I was oddly pleased that my "scrapes" nearly freaked him out. [vbeg]
I talked to Summer and chatted about cleaning at my mom's place again; then Auntie called and wanted to talk. Auntie always wants to know if I know any news -- since I basically go nowhere and talk to very few people IRL, I usually don't. Unfortunately, Auntie lets the phone ring long enough so that the voice-mail kicks in and she invariably thinks there is something wrong with my phone. >.< It's too bad she was too vain to get a hearing aid sooner -- people have no problem with getting glasses or dentures but a hearing aid? ::shakes head:: I suppose it is a holdover from the really ugly, *old* hearing aids from years ago. But they changed so much, especially in the last ten years or so... oh well.
Oh, and there were no trick or treaters last night. Not surprised but I now have two bags of candy to try and eat. Maybe I can give some to Summer for her kids. No other news.
