What I Did Today
Sep. 3rd, 2009 04:30 pmAnd yesterday, and the day before... Yes, I have actually *been* doing things, not just being a layabout.
Tuesday, I had legal stuff to do in Hastings, and of course I stopped at the local used book store. I snagged a few more books, one of them titled: "After the King -- Stories in Honor of JRR Tolkien", edited by Martin H. Greenberg. It looks like several "official" authors did a little 'creative' writing of their own *ahem, ahem*. I'm sure it will be heavy on canon and Fourth Age but I figured it was worth checking out anyway. When I read it (or if anyone else has read it?) I'll try and post my review.
It's almost time for Labor Day weekend, and I have no idea what I will be doing. Just being lazy, I'm sure though I might make yet another effort to see a movie. I know, I know -- I've been saying that off and on all summer but really, I am just not quite in the mood for *any* movie. ::sigh:: It's so not like last year and TDK. ::wistful sigh::
Yesterday I went to a local estate auction. I got a cute salt and pepper shaker set of tiny cats with a blue floral design that are laying on a tray/rug. I also got a few older books -- nothing too special but if anyone wants to know what would have been on a 'typical' bookshelf in the 1920-40's, just let me know. [g] Interestingly, there was a book of local town history that was published for the US Bicentennial. It was a paperback copy that was in fair shape (a couple of pages were loose, but they were all there) and it was sold separately -- it went for $95! Wow. I got my hb copy at my aunt's sale for $25 in an very large box -- but then at that one, they didn't mention any books specifically. This auction, they did and it made a huge difference.
I also finished a story -- yes, really! I'm having my beta double-check it a second time, and then it'll be good to go. Just few hundred more snippets and half-finished fics to work on, lol.
As for today? I am still doing "stuff". ;)
Back later on tonight.
