i love this one! awesome! i've been out of animal rescue for a few years, but will probably get back in next year, and finding forever homes for homeless pets is a wonderful thing. :)

Yeah, I always am more involved in animal causes than any other, mostly because I am much more of an animal person. All of the shelters here are full up and needing people to adopt. [I am hoping I can see my way clear to adopt another small dog, though they are usually the easiest to place.]

This is so true. I am still volunteering at the Animal Humane Society every Tuesday, going in and petting the kitties. I also go talk to the birds because I think they're probably bored and lonely. I wouldn't mind getting a cockatiel if they weren't so darn messy. That and my cats would probably eat it.

I don't live close enough to a Humane Society to volunteer; if I did, I probably would be hard pressed to not try and adopt every one (cat, dog or other) I would see. I have never had birds; like you, I have cats with claws and it wouldn't be fair to the bird. Although some larger birds are pretty capable of taking care of themselves....

I thought I would have the same problem of wanting to adopt all of the animals, but it's turned out not to be that way. I feel good knowing I've give them some love & attention. All I have to do is think about the 3 cats I already have in my tiny house and needing to clean up more poop if I adopted anyone and that usually takes care of it.

I like the bunnies, mice (I don't care for rats), and guinea pigs but as I said, I don't want to clean up after any of them. Except for a dog, any other animal I brought home the cats would probably eat. Yanni's been known to capture (and gnaw on) birds.
