Back From The ER
Jul. 3rd, 2009 03:32 pmSo naturally my doctor's office was closed -- strangely enough, some people enjoy extended weekends. I had been hoping that they would be open till noon, but no. So I went to the ER (an adventure in itself, as the ER parking lot is being remodeled(?) or *something*, so I ended up parking clear over in the regular section and walking to the ER. (Hey, at least I was able to do that, yknow.) I got checked in and looked over (having no insurance I was pretty positive they wouldn't be keeping me) and after a blood draw (the tech asked me if I had a history of seizures, I was shaking so badly but I told her no, I was just exhausted from a round of coughing and that I never could stand to see my blood being drawn -- it makes me all queasy inside and I am very probably going to barf all over if I do), x-ray and Albuterol treatment, it was determined by the doctor on call that I didn't have pneumonia but that I did have bronchitis and the very end of an overall bad cold. I have the feeling the doctor thought I might well have had full-blown pneumonia -- or something more severe -- earlier but by the time I was able to drive myself to the ER, I was over it. Heh heh. So that was the morning and most of this afternoon. I was given two different Rx's: one for a cough syrup w/codeine and one for Levaquin. I hope that the L is majorly kick-ass good, since I had to pay $180+ for seven -- *seven* -- pills. ::tries to unboggle mind:: Of course, you have to remember I have no health insurance -- but that is a discussion for another time.
But I am home now, took the L and getting ready to take the cough syrup. I have to admit it is a relief to know what is wrong (i.e., to have my self-diagnosis confirmed), maybe I can start to feel better.
