Last night I got a call from My Cousin Donna's boyfriend Daniel, with the news that she was still in hospital. Big surprise to me! Now I will admit that she called me about a week and a half ago, saying that she hurt her knee(?) leg(?) *really* bad. She said that she had fallen off of her sister's porch while she (Donna) was drunk and that she had fallen about 18 ft.(!) but the hospital sent her home. Since she has a flair for drama and she called me from her home and not the hospital, I figured she was exaggerating and had probably fallen 2-4 ft. max, and that it was going to be an out-patient thing, or maybe just overnight or so. But no. Apparently they had to reconstruct her knee and do a lot of work on her leg -- now she looks forward to PT and OT and maybe getting a disability check. *sigh* Ok, so I was wrong. Otoh, she is enjoying the "super-fine pain meds" she's had while in hospital... Just.. yeah. >.<


Sadly though, her mom died the day after Donna went in hospital. Her mom has been "poorly" for years, no idea what exactly was wrong though because according to Donna, her mom was very bad off for a long time. I'm just, like, life is like that babe. Been there, done that with my grandma, dad and mom so yeah, *I Freakin' Know*. I'm afraid I was a bit snappish a time or two but I mean *damn*. But she isn't totally clueless, she just gets carried away with teh drama and we ended our conversation on a positive note. [And no, I have no plans to see her because she lives about 1500+ miles away, which is not only too far to drive and I have no wish to take a plane or train for what would be a very short visit of a day or so.]

So I went to Hastings today to see Auntie and Uncle and tell them the news. They were pretty good and I promised to come back in another day or so when I know more about Donna.

The weather is hot and humid, with probable rain, which means the grass is going to grow like crazy. Again. Maybe I can find a cheap mower.

Other than that, no other major news. Tomorrow I am going for a haircut, grocery shopping and taking Baby in to be rechecked at the vet's.
