Dear Diary
May. 14th, 2009 11:46 pmA couple of days ago I posted a meme to ask me anything, try and jog me out of my comfort zone. So, I have decided to make a separate post for the answers. And since everyone knows how much I like to ramble, to save your pages (and sanity), everything is under the cut.
3.) Your thoughts on blogging, how did you start, was it LJ from the beginning? Do you think it adds to your life or that it is merely a past time? (What I mean is, can you manage to be sane without a year of internet?)
I've been here on elle J for about five years now. Before that, I was in a lot of yah-who groups at first -- I still am, I guess -- but then a lot of people started migrating here and assorted message boards. I don't "do" boards because I find them too much of a headache to deal with, period.
It adds a lot to my life, though it isn't my entire life -- it only seems that way. :) But it is here, online, that I have found my "real" family.
As you have probably guessed, where I live, most people are married (at least once, if not twice or more) and have kids and/or step-kids. Add in the usual extended family of grandparents, aunts and uncles, etc. -- and they just do not have "time" to be with someone who is single, never married, and no kids. [I might add that this is an ultra-conservative, small town area and they do not like change or anything that is not normal".] Three strikes -- that pretty much leaves me out of the loop. In real life, that f'n *hurts*.
And while I realize that a lot of my online sibs here have families, kids and everything of that sort, we still have other interests in common -- something that does not happen in my "off-line" life.
No, I definitely could not manage a year without being online.
