Recipe Experiment
Jan. 19th, 2009 11:31 amToday is my "clean out and use up" day, so sometimes I come up with some, er, inventive recipes. (It gives me a reason to use up some of the cans I often manage to dent when I rearrange things. If the dent is of unknown origin, the cats get it. I also try and use up the stray bits that accumulate in the fridge -- within reason. If it's questionable, to the compost.) Today's is more traditional though.
Crockpot Cola Chicken
Cook Time: 7 hours
Ingredients:
* 1 whole chicken, about 3 pounds
* 1 cup ketchup
* 1 large onion, thinly sliced
* 1 cup cola, Coke, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, etc.
Preparation:
Wash and pat chicken dry. Salt and pepper to taste. Put chicken in Crock Pot with the onions on top. Add cola and ketchup and cook on LOW 6 to 8 hours.
This cola chicken is supposed to come out tasting like barbecued chicken, so we shall see. It's cooking now, which means I have time to do some laundry and other cleaning. Perhaps even writing? Who knows?
