It's *cold*. *Again*. As in below-zero wind chills, thought it seems that the worst of it is farther to the east. ::hugs all sibs east of here and sends them hot drinks and soup du jour:: But it's still nasty cold here, and the pattern could shift and decide to take us in anyway. Ugh.

So today I went and snagged a little more grocery-wise and got the mail; beyond that, I doubt if I go out at all tomorrow. I made a *big* batch of chili and tomorrow I will bake a little; brownies and a new applesauce cake recipe [I already have all the ingredients on hand, so why not eh?] and probably some cornbread. No cookies though because I am in the middle of rearranging my cupboards and there is no more counter space to cool cookies. Maybe Friday, if the weather doesn't warm up.

Part of my groceries included vanilla ice cream since my little dog has been pouting for the last two days due to "no evening dessert after supper" because I ran out of ice cream and wasn't going to buy any more until I found a good sale. Of course, that was before the little diva decided to pout. ::eye roll:: Oh yes, she has me well trained. First I had to buy more cones because the teaspoon I left in the bowl for her isn't good enough anymore. Oh no, not for the fur princess! She just looked at me and walked away, nose definitely out of joint, clearly saying: "What kinda joint is this? No cones? Puh-leeez." in her best thirties film star attitude. Well, at least said attitude lasted until the cat tried to eat it and then she was back in a flash; the cat sailed across my laptop and she gobbled down the ice cream. But it wasn't to her liking; no, not by any means and she made sure I understood it. Lesson learned.

No other news for now. Niters all.

ETA: Tomorrow's high is to be 3 above zero (F).

You mean, there's worse than that? Brrr! *shivers*

I've been pretty-much stuck indoors since Monday night, and all I've wanted to do is eat and sleep. (You should see the size of my ass. *cringes*) And the room where my computer is has three outside walls, which means I don't need a freezer to make ice cubes now. Never thought I'd actually be glad to go to the sweatshop work tomorrow.

THIS. (Indeed -- why the hell not?) Funny you should say that, as I made a loaf of homemade yeast bread for the first time in ages, and it came out so awesomely good it made me wonder why I ever stopped making it in the first place. Good eats, indeed. *grin*

Stay warm!

Yup, we might get to -20 wind chills (or lower!) the next couple of days, though anywhere east of Omaha is already that cold (I think), if not colder. [And we live in a deep freeze, why?]

I used to make homemade bread years ago but I got out of the habit. I think I will need to "invest" in some yeast and try it again.

Take care and stay warm!

Investing in yeast? Wow, I have never tried baking. Inspired by you, however...Below zero? Here its 31 deg...sweltering hot. An exchange trip?

Stay safe, stay warm!

Yeast used to be cheap, now it's *expensive* -- that's why I call it an investment (also because making bread will take a long time, but so worth it.)

It's all true (looks at the little sleeping diva) -- she has me well-trained.

Baking will warm you up - so will the chilli!

I have never known a dog refuse ice cream - not even a small amount lol Will it be the start of an ice cream portion war I wonder :D

Oh, she is quite fussy about her food at times. She likes the crunchiness of the cone, I think. And once kitty showed up to eat it, then she decided that a bowl was acceptable -- but it was definitely not up to her standards.
