How Cold Is It Today?

Well, let's just say that when I went to warm up the car, there was still a heavy coating of ice (not heavy frost, but *ice*) on the hood. I turned on the ignition and came back inside for 15 minutes or so to let the engine warm. When I went out, the ice was still on the hood -- no melting at all. I drove downtown and let it idle while I went in after mail, groceries and a quick stop at the bank. Altogether, I was probably busy for about a half hour. And the ice did not melt *one bit*, though I did manage to chip a bit of it off around the edges. Not sure what the wind chill is but I can definitely feel it even inside the house. I have now turned the furnace up a little bit more because *damn.*

No, not Alaska or Canada just the middle of the continental US aka Tornado Alley. Usually it's not this bad, the entire northern tier seems to be getting clobbered by snow and cold this month.

Brrrr! Poor you. :( I know snow is festive and all that but it annoys the hell out of me, half an inch of snow in the UK seems to bring everything to a grinding halt
