Yoinked from one of my sibs:
Book meme!
1. One book that changed your life?
"Labyrinths" by Jorge Luis Borges. I discovered his work during an advanced Spanish class and his short story "The Garden of Forking Paths" is just *amazing*.
2. One book you have read more than once?
"The Cowboy and the Cossack" by Clair Huffaker. No, it is *not* a romance -- it is a Western and a damned good one at that. It's hard to find (out of print) and I guard my copy with a vigilance Fëanor would understand. (Actually, I'm that way about most of my books.)
3. One book you would want on a desert island?
That would be the entire works (Hobbit, LotR, Silmarillion, et. al.) of one Mr. J.R.R. Tolkien. No way am I choosing just one!
4. One book that made you laugh?
"The Great Taos Bank Robbery" by Tony Hillerman. It's actually a collection of short stories but the first story about the bank robbery is just hysterical and I'd love to see it made into a movie. "Mr. Luna's Lazarus Act" would be another great comedy.
5. One book that made you cry?
"A Snowflake In My Hand" by Samantha Mooney. It is a great book but utterly heartrending to read if you have furkids (especially cats.) Hell, I can't even write this much without bawling.
6. One book you wish had been written?
Whatever it was that Heath was planning to write.
7. One book you wish had never been written?
Right now, that would be "Twilight" because if something like that can get published... ::shudders:: Otoh, the lulz are almost worth it.
8. One book you are currently reading?
"The Queen's Gambit" by Walter Tevis. I had started it a long time ago and then it got moved to a new location by a friend, and I just found it again.
9. One book you have been meaning to read?
That would be either of the Heath bios I have but I have not yet been able to bring myself to do more than look at the covers.
10. One book that you are currently re-reading (I was supposed to tag people, but I changed it.):
The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien
