Yes I am still around. I just got busy with rl legal stuff (ugh), family stuff and a nasty stomach virus which was not fun at. all. Also, my aunt wanted me to help them clean out their cupboards which I did and hauled some of the food to the local food pantry (they never did have a lot ahead, and what they did have was bought right before they went to the nursing home.) So after doing all of that, my aunt gave me grandma's "Mother's Ring" -- which, in case you are unfamiliar with the term, is often a gold band set with tiny gemstone chips of their children. They can be fairly elaborate and since this belonged to my grandma (all of my aunts and uncles and my mom chipped in for it *many* years ago), it's a really good quality one. So I was very surprised when she offered it to me but not surprised enough to refuse it; believe me, I had that ring on my finger in considerably less time than it took me to type this -- no way was I going to let her change her mind! So yes indeed, there are times when it pays to help out the older relatives. (After reading that, I realize just how mercenary that sounds but believe me, my aunt gives away very *very* little, ever -- and I know she has given my other cousins a lot of "good stuff" over the years but me? I usually get stuff straight out of
