Anyone have any good links for local haunted places near where you live? Or good local scary stories? I'm tinkering w/a Halloween fic for a friend and I'd like to try something fresh if possible. [I'd prefer something that isn't nationally known if possible.] Suggestions anyone?

The Fortean Times Message Board is also an interesting place to look at, especially the
" It happened To Me " thread and the " Ghost " thread, as they are peoples accounts of paranormal experiences, and the Fortean Times readers are generally open minded skeptics, not completely gullible.

I live just down the road from Killyleagh Castle (I drive past it every day), and its meant to have a ghost.

I live in a haunted dorm, Huntress, at Keene State. They open the 4th floor, where the ghost of Harriet Huntress is said to be, on Halloween, otherwise it's locked off. People say they can hear her wheelchair squeaking, and other things have happened, as well. She doesn't like the fact that the dorm is mixed, so she's said to only haunt the males or rooms with mixed company on overnight stays.

It's usually just little things like posters that had been tacked onto the wall falling down, or the blinds going up by themselves. You can read a little about it here.

About 70 miles from here is the Mansfield reformatory. It is reputed to be haunted and they do a "haunted prison" around halloween every year.
