Yes, I am still around. I just didn't realise I hadn't posted in so long. Heh. It is hot outside and I am trying to stay as cool as possible -- not easy when the furkids keep glomming themselves on to me every chance they get. To say *nothing* of the hair! It looks as if I am living in a sheep shearing barn, or something.

*Anyway*, since I have a bunch of Pepsi points, I am looking for some song suggestions so I can use them at Amazon. :) Preferably in the mp3 format, but I can use others as well. Any ideas? I'm trying to stay out of a rut and I'm trying not to duplicate anything. So please, feel free to make suggestions.

Back later on.

Hmmm, well what kind of music to you like? I might have some ideas. :)

Oh, I like all sorts. I tend to have rather eclectic tastes (better known was 'weird') -- about the only kind I don't like is rap/hip-hop because that is what my former brother likes, and now I loathe it with a passion. So, challenge me. Maybe a foreign language song?If there are translated lyrics around, even better. :)

Well, you ever heard Edith Piaf? She was a French singer in the 1940s, and her stuff is gorgeous.

Also there is what I'm listening to now, a band called Fairport Convention, and in particular their album Liege and Lief. The song Reynardine is beautiful. It's sorta folksy, I don't know if you like that much, but it's what I listen to when I write H/C. :)

And of course Nick Drake. His album Pink Moon is just beautiful....

Hope that helps!

Oh yes, Edith is wonderful! ::happy sigh:: I still need to see the recent film about her though.

I *love* folk music! I used to have a ton of vinyl, and I am almost positive that I had that lp. I grew up on "old" music like that... Definitely going to check out 'Reynardine'. :)

I'm planning to get more Nick Darke just as soon as I can; none of his stuff is on the "Pepsi" list at Amazon though. And I don't have the room on this dinky hd to get it from iTunes.

Oh, and I just remembered -- you might want to check out an album called 'Murder Ballads' by Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue (?). There's a song called "Where The Wild Roses Grow" that I am using for a background when I work on a certain fic.

Furkids?

Tell me, what kind and how many? Gender, color, etc.
Or have you pictures?

Since I have three (count'em 3) dogs, and formerly have had both cats and dogs, I am just curious who shares your home.

I have one barky little dog (a Pom) LeeAnn and two indoor cats -- undeclawed -- who are both "rescues." No pics since I have been unable to scan any yet. Both cats are neutered females but undeclawed. I don't believe in it for one; also, I think they are more bite-y when they are (some rescue cats simply do not make good house cats -- a lot of the time that's not discovered until after the operation and if they're declawed, you're stuck with one unhappy cat) and in addition this is a very rural part of the country. Should they happen to get out, they need to be able to at least climb in a tree.

Lucky is fairly old, over 12, mostly white w/gray splotches. She alone is permitted on my desk and she is the one who lays on my keyboard (this is a laptop) when she thinks I have ignored her long enough. I rescued her as a younger cat (roughly 1 year of age) from a dog attack. Luckily the dogs were too young to work together or she would have been history. So I brought her home and kept her indoor until she settled down before taking her to the vet for her operation.

Mulanne is a solid gray and (as near as I can tell) a full Manx w/o no tail at all (I believe that's referred to as a "rumpie"). She is hella smart too; let me tell you, she *thinks*. I'm not sure if that's because of the Manx blood but she is definitely not a typical cat. She's very smart & bright, affectionate and playful. But can she ever hold a grudge!

Last but hardly least is LeeAnn. She was my mom's Mother's Day gift in 2000 and is 8. She's a cream color and is quite the cuddle bug. Anyhow, she is either in the house, on leash or inside her little fence. She is quite happy being the "only dog".

Wow, just listen to me yakk eh? Didn't mean to ramble on so -- one day I will do a separate post just on them. Ttyl! :)

"Mercy" by Duffy
"Fresh Feeling" or "(Goddamn Right) It's a Beautiful Day" by the Eels
"Waving Flags" by British Sea Power
"Naive" by the Kooks
"Like I Love You" by Bellx1

Do you ever go to the Hype Machine MP3 Blog? Try clicking on *popular* and listen to various artists. Try: The Fratellis, The Arcade Fire, The Hidden Cameras, or Camera Obscura. http://hypem.com/

Some of my favorite songs are: "Silent Sigh" by Badly Drawn Boy (I like a lot of his stuff including the soundtrack to "About a Boy."); "Recycled Air" by the Postal Service (I like a lot of their songs, too); and "Macy's Day Parade" by Greenday.

That should give you a place to start. :)
