Yeah, it's me at the library again. So, tonight I get to try and hand out candy to the local kiddies. My costume is, naturally, Fortune Teller. Hey, I got oodles and oddles of stuff that works so well. I *adore* costumes. Absolutely. Totally. J'adore. Some of the best times I had in college was when I was on costume crew for theatre. Somuchfun. ::happysigh:: I miss those days so bad... *Anyhoo*, my costume is ready and so is the candy--*if* I can keep from eating it. After the kiddies are done coming around (and I know LeeAnn will probably bark herself into a spasm) I'm going to watch videos. Which reminds me, I need to add to my dvd collection. Essential stuff, like Halloween, The Crow--to name but a few. A quick note about 'Halloween' (the movie, that is): I saw it w/my cousin Donna when it first came out. For some weird reason, they released it in March. Donna was here visiting, and we decided to go see it. Since we had missed the first show, we walked to the nearest bar, where Donna drank her very first green beer. (Yes, we saw 'Halloween' on St. Patrick's Day. Like I said, weird promo for the movie. You would have thought they'd wait so they could do tie-ins in October...) So, Donna got mildly buzzed since she wasn't going to be driving and I drank Coke. Or maybe Pepsi... When we got back, we loaded up on popcorn, etc. and settled in for the movie. It started out ok, but Donna ended up *laughing* at all the scary parts. So, in the middle of all these "Eeeeeeees", you'd hear one single "LOLOLOL". I did my best to disappear, which wasn't easy and unsuccessful at that. I was afraid Donna might get us thrown out, but she didn't. Of course, even if we had been called on it, I'm sure she would have talked her way out of it. And really, there's no law against *laughing* during a movie... except this was supposed to be a horror film... Ah well. It's one of the good memories I like to keep of her, though looking back it's slightly bitter since I should have seen the warning signs that she was an incipient alcoholic... or maybe not. When you're *young*, you don't think of things like that. At least I didn't. Which makes me seem terminally stupid, I suppose. Or not. Anyway, I haven't heard from Donna since sometime in May and I can't help but wonder about her. I hope she's ok, even though I know that she's too far gone in drug/alcohol addictions for me to even try and do anything for her. Wow, didn't mean to get so depressing. Ok, so it's off to update before I get tossed. Back later maybe.
