Unhappy Family News
Jan. 16th, 2008 07:37 pmI really debated about posting this but since some of you know me pretty well, I'm going to go ahead. This is family stuff (one of my younger cousins died *tragically*), so if you don't want to read it or don't feel up to it, you'd better skip it.
One of my younger cousins, a second cousin actually, died today. Mark was one of the Omaha Bunch. My Aunt Arlene told me about him when I called her this afternoon. Mark's dad, Jack, was my first cousin but since my mom's family is large (Jack's oldest son, John, is my age), a lot of the time I tend to look at my second cousins as being more like my first cousins. (I hope that made sense.) My Aunt Lee is devastated; Mark was the one she relied on the most and he was also the one who drove her around to appointments and such. I'm not exactly sure *what* happened (although Aunt A. said he had killed himself, or at least that was what she was told) and I e-mailed my cousin Lyn in hopes of finding out more. Lyn is the one who keeps track the Omahans. *sigh* Mark's mom, Eleanor, was taken to the hospital? dr.? because of the shock. I feel so badly for my Aunt L. -- she's buried 3 of her 5 kids (Jerry, Barb and Jack) already; her oldest grandson, Randall, was murdered almost 20 years ago... I have the feeling she might not want to keep going on much longer. At 97... *Sigh* It was bad enough when Barb died 2000 and Jack in '01 -- this with Mark is even worse in some ways.
I'll probably be off and on, though I doubt if I'll be on IM.
