Why Yes, I *Did* Hear...
Oct. 15th, 2007 10:16 pmFor those of you who don't live in NE and/or follow college football, you can go ahead and skip this. For those of you who *do*, however...
the firing of NE Athletic Director is *all* that *anyone* -- and I do mean *anyone* is talking about. Rumors were all over the place. The radio shows were devoting huge chunks of airtime to it (the call-in shows were very... hyper.) I was stopped while trying to run errands by perfect strangers: sales clerks, cashiers, *everyone* I ran into, I swear -- just so we could "discuss" the news. Actually, they did most of the talking. I just went "yeah" a lot and tried to get things done and hoped like hell I wasn't going to end up with a cold. Even my aunt wanted to talk about it! Yikes! And she *never*, *ever* talks about football, except very briefly, mostly right after a game or something like that. So what do I think? Really? Pederson was/is a fool. I knew the way he fired Solich (?) was going to get a bunch of bad karma going and yeah, it sure as hell did. The poor team has sucked (no other word for it, honestly) so badly that it hurts. It's being called the worst team since 1948. It will be interesting to see what happens with the program now because I mean *damn*. Only five years since Osborne retired and look what a mess things are now. Good grief! It's just... just... words fail me. Seriously. I mean, with Solich I figured there would be a little roughness during the transition and I didn't think he was that bad as a coach... but Pederson decided that he was and brought in Callahan to "return the team to an elite status" Riiiight. Yup, we sure have seen that. So anyway, the press conference was carried live and interrupted all of the regular tv progamming. XD Oh yeah, gotta love that! So now, it should be interesting to see what happens next.
