Coffeyville KS
Jul. 16th, 2007 09:48 pmYes sibs, this (the flooding at the oil refinery @ Coffeyville KS) is the reason that "we" (NE, KS, CO, SD, MO &IA) are facing some of the highest gas prices in the Lower 48.
So, I am talking with Shockey and one of his friends who hauls heavy equipment (bulldozers, etc.) about the mess at Coffeyville tonight. The guy (don't remember his name, sorry) just got back from a run down there and basically the whole town is majorly screwed -- as bad as New Orleans, in its way. As you probably know, the refinery was hit by the flood, oil mixed with the flood waters and now there is oil scum from top to bottom of every freakin building in town. Lots of one story houses, etc. and there is just oil from the eaves to basement (at least 12 ft.). The guy said the simplest thing would just be to raze the town and start over because he doesn't think there is any f'n way to ever get it clean again--not to mention the environmental hazards--and that the groundwater is totally fucked. Shit.
