About Cats

la_samtyrI called the vet's office today so I could start setting up appointments for "my" spay/neuter project. I am so going to be paying on this bill for the rest of my life--yikes!!
More under the cut, to spare my poor f-list....
=( Brother (the young tom) is going first because *he* does not have kittens to care for. He will cost $188.15 -- about half of that is for the FlV test and overall blood test to make sure he can handle the anasetic (sic) ok, plus an overnight stay in the recovery room.
[A local 'friend' offered to "fix" him for free--that is to say, surgery w/o anasetic. I just look at the guy and say "Ok, does that mean you'll have the same surgery w/o any anasetic either?" He turned white as a sheet and goes "Uh... no..." And I say to him, "Well you have my answer then don't you?" *SIGH* Why people seem to think this way is quite beyond my apparently limited ability to comprehend. If you wouldn't have surgery w/o any sort of pain killer, why would you want to see it inflicted on a fur being?] Sure there are always extreme emergency situations, but this isn't one of them.
The girls will be going in pretty soon, so I don't have to worry about any more surprise kittens. The first batch is slowly being weaned from mom. They are sweeties and the female (no-tail) is quite a little character. Quite the little dominatrix, heh heh. Very bold, she likes to run around inside the kitchen and torment the dog. So far, she has poor LeeAnn bluffed pretty good. If she puffs herself up, she's about the size of a tennis ball. :) The others are more "traditional" kittens, and they have tails. One is male, the other is probably male too. Little No-tail is a sweetie and I'm going to be supercareful placing her. It's tempting to keep her but unless the older ones are somehow adopted, I don't think I can. That would make a total of 6 cats, which is just too many to handle especially when I factor in LeeAnn.
Ok, supper is over so now I get to take a nice nap.
And before I forget... my car broke down today, literally one block from my house. The guy that often helps me out was gone working on his new place and his wife had to "go work" (babysit) and couldn't go and tell him. I left a message on the machine yesterday and also today but I have the feeling they were erased. SO--I get to call a repair shop from Hastings and I bet that bill is gonna be a *real* f'n pain, especially since they had to tow it. It was $50 for them to haul a car about 12 blocks in Hastings, I hate to think what this one will be. But there's no way around it, just one of those things to have to deal with.
And so it goes.
