Mostly About Kittens

la_samtyrAfter losing another kitten yesterday, I moved NewMama and her family to the guest bedroom.
This has caused much stress for my little dog who can hear and smell them quite easily through the door. She has been guarding the door and is in hopes of being able to rid the room of the "baby mice" (ie, baby kittens). She is doing pretty well about not scratching the door too much but my! is she ever *focussed* on her new duty! Even if she should manage to knock the door open, it is highly unlikely that any harm will befall the babies, as NewMama is literally twice the size of the dog and has claws. I was really hoping that I would be able to keep them on the porch but the recent change in weather is just too much. The porch stays fairly warm at 50 and it's dry with no drafts, so... ::shrugs:: I had them safely in a cage too, since Brother (the young tomcat) lives on the porch as well, and toms favorite entree is fresh baby kitten. A sad fact of life, but true. So far the remaining kittens seem ok, which indicates (to me) that the ones that died must have had something else wrong with them. I will probably post more later on, so I will stop boring you for now.
