And In Today's News...
Oct. 12th, 2004 08:10 pmNot a lot is new. Went to see Mom today; she still can hardly talk above a whisper 95% of the time. It is very hard to care for her--I seem to be even more awkward and clumsy than usual. Aunt Arlene visited but I wasn't there when she was.
Saw Vicki L. outside the Catholic Ladies (aka St. Joseph Gift and Thrift) and dished w/her. I hope to spend another day or so bending her ear about "everything"--she's pretty smart and always has good advice. If only she didn't have to go back to Phoenix w/her folks! But it sounds like they'll be here through harvest, so I'll probably get a chance to see her a couple of times at least.
Bought a really pretty ring at the Catholic Ladies--silver, w/pretty inlay design. Also found some skates for only $3.95/pr. at Goodwill--never know when the trade credit might come in handy. Or I can probably sell them for $5/each if need be.
Oh yeah--I started the day by discovering the phone was out of order. It seems that all of the incoming calls were getting forwarded to Diane S.'s awnsering machine. That's just plain *weird*! I *know* I didn't do it--for one thing, this is a rotary phone, which is harder to program than a touchtone. Although I am convinced that it was probably some weird computer glitch since the last phone call that registered on Caller ID was from Diane's. Although *why* they didn't stop by the house to tell me about it is beyond me. I mean, a lot of people call to ask about Mom, and if they were getting *her* awnsering machine--I *know* they left messages, they told me so and they have no reason to lie about it. So, it's just one of those mysteries, I guess. I know that it couldn't have been programmed from their end... I am sure that there is another key to this house floating around somewhere... but who would do such a thing and why...?
Well, going to post before this disconnects one me. Later!
