Went to see Mom this afternoon. I had planned to stay home but went in when I learned no-one else had been to see her. Ruth did come right before supper though. Mom is very frustrated being in hospital this time. Partly because she can't speak because of laryngitis; her voice is barely above a whisper. She did learn that some of the pain she is having in her chest area is due to torn ligaments in her chest/ribcage due to extreme coughing spells that she was never medicated for. *sigh* I feel at such a loss. :( She is very restless, partly due to the pain but also, I think she is getting tired of it all and wants to give up. Perhaps she will make Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I don't know how long she can keep going. It is so hard to try and help her in hospital--she loathes the damned hospital gowns and the bed is just high enough that she can't sit back easily and as a result she is laying right on the edge of the mattress much of the time and can't really move more toward the middle of the bed. Plus the nurses always tuck her in tight, which only makes her slightly overheat plus it binds her feet so she can't get any leverage to shift herself in bed. :/ And the nurses simply will not leave the styrofoam cups I bring her (so that she can drink her water more easily) alone. They are constantly tossing them out, when they are still clean and unused. Idiots! Don't they realise that she can barely lift a styrofoam cup, let alone the big quart cups that they fill up w/ice water? She simply doesn't have the strength, damn it! Oh how I wish I dared to raise hell and dump those damned big cups on the floor and tell them to quit being so fucking stupid? Wake up, morons! But of course I don't dare--I'd only be labeled as a troublemaker and probably get barred from the hospital, not to mention they might decide I am being abusive to her at home. If only she can hold on long enough to get back home again! She'd rest much more comfortably here, not to mention with torn muscles/ligaments, the only cure is to rest and let them heal much like broken ribs. And that can be done at home as easy as it can in hospital. Anyway, some of the test results should be in tomorrow, so maybe I will know more what's up then.
