Nascar Penalties

Is it just me or does it seem like Nascar has gone overboard with the penalties for Waltrip's team? Or have I just become used to the slap-on-wrist punishments/fine that MLB, NBA and NFL teams and players get from their respective sports? And is it wrong of me to wish that Nascar was administering the *alleged* steriod policy of MLB? (Yes, that means you BB!)
