Belts Will Be Worn Tighter

I had to replace all of the tires on my car today -- a not unexpected expense but one I was hoping to put off for just a bit longer. $500+ for tires and alignment... yikes. But now I won't have to worry about replacing them again for several years.

It's also cut me very short on what I planned to do this month.

And yes, there are other minor things (battery etc.) that will need to be taken care of the next few months.

Oh ouch! Those maintenance expenses are always such a PITA, even if they are budgeted for. *hugs*

Yes, I know. I had hoped for another 'month of grace' in the budget to allow for replacing the tires but as it happened... oh well.

Cars are such expensive companions, aren't they? But it's good they will keep for several years; due to the laws here (and my own security concerns), usually a set of tires can't be used more than two years, three years max, and we need summer and winter tires, too.

Wow. A complete new set of tires every two-three years? That's not very long, and quite expensive, I imagine. These have lasted for 4 years, so I really can't complain.

I'd probably drive less than I do but there is no form of mass transit (bus or train) to be had. So it's either walk or bicycle (easy enough in my small town) or use a personal car.

We save up a little each month for tires but wow, it still hurts to have to spend that much on them. :/

Oh yeah, I can imagine. I am lucky to be able to use the most inexpensive (aka 'cheap') tire; I don't know what I'd do if I had to use a 'higher grade' tire.

I'd really hoped to have another 'month of grace' before getting new tires but there was no choice this time.

*squishes you* I feel your pain, even though my scooter only has two tires...I have to replace them soon!
