Day 2

In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts. 1. This is a real stretch but I'd like to see a "what happened next" fic for the original "The Ladykillers" (1955, with Alec Guinness.) Just imagine: the four robbers are all dead, and the old lady has all that 'lolly'. The last scene is that she gives a very large banknote to a 'starving street artist'. So... what does happen next? Let's assume that the notes are never traced (fiction, remember?) and that the old lady keeps spending a bit here and there throughout her long life (She was born in 1883; it's quite likely that she lived until 1980-3.) She's also very frugal so it's unlikely she spent very much of it. What happens with all that money? Does she donate it somewhere? Does a distant family member inherit/discover it and try to find out where it came from? Back then £60,000 was a huge amount; in today's money, it would be about £2 million.

Also, what happens with the dead robbers? They are surely discovered at some point since they fell into an open coal (railroad) car/carriage. How are there deaths discovered/explained? Surely the police would want to know what happened and how, etc. etc.

I'd love to do this myself but it's so London & UK-based that I can't see how to do it. My original idea was to set it as a "cold case" or something but Sherlock would work just as well, perhaps even better. In any case, it's the writer's choice.


2. Another stretch, but this time it's "what happened next" with the movie "Arsenic and Old Lace".
So, we have all the baddies locked up, another innocent(?) is off on his honeymoon... what happens to the house and all those "dead bodies in the cellar"? Is the house boarded up, contents and all? Maybe for a time but with the growth that took place during the post-war boom? I suppose it could have survived if it had been in some sort of estate or trust -- at least, that is the impression I get from the film. Are the bodies ever found?

I can see this working easily as a "Cold Case" fic -- but again, I just don't know enough about Brooklyn & NYC/State. And since it's set in Brooklyn... it could work for Captain America and/or Avengers; maybe even Iron Man. (Please, no zombie/vampire au's.)

Oooh, I love your "what happened next" ideas! I can't see myself writing either of them; I'm trying to move into an original fic direction at the moment. But if someone does, please let me know.
