Somehow I missed seeing this one. Usually this is exactly the type of movie to draw me in but iirc, my mom's health began to fail badly about this time and so I cut down on a lot of things --- namely, movies. (My mom basically refused to see any movie in a theatre. I don't know why because she loved watching them at home.)

I'm starting to see movies less and less often in the theater. For one, there are fewer movies coming out that I feel are worth the effort. For another, I'm finding it harder to get all the way through a movie without having to go to the bathroom, even if I didn't get a drink!

Perhaps your mom was also thinking it's easier to watch at home where you can pause for the bathroom break and not have to miss anything.
