Today's News and Weather Report

Today is hot and humid, which is giving me a headache. It isn't helping that I have to sit between the a/c and a fan to even try and cool off, for the simple reason that it gives me a headache. Not fun. My cats, otoh, love it.

I spent most of yesterday at home. It was just too hot to go out and do anything. I hate leaving the animals alone for very long because the fireworks scare them so badly.

I did go to the farmer's market early and got some goodies to enjoy though and got some fresh veggies as well.

I haven't been cooking because I hate to have my kitchen turned into a sauna. Unfortunately the window a/c is not working right so I can't use it. And since it is just a fraction too big for the window, it's really jammed in. I've been trying to get it removed for about 5 years now and no luck yet. I only had it put in because my cleaning lady at the time was pregnant and she kept getting too hot. So I had it put in and a week later, her ob told her she wasn't to drive out of town until after the baby was born (she lived in a town about 20 miles away) -- and so we never got to see if it really made that much difference or not. (As far as I'm concerned, it was a big waste all around.)

I am going to bed early now and see if I can sleep. Wish me luck.

Heat + humidity makes me pretty wretched, so I sympathize. Hope it cools off a bit soon!

We've had heat wave for over a week here, so I sympathize. I haven't cooked anything for the past few days, either.

I'm glad you got some rain. I wish it would do the same here... we really need it.

It's cooler in the morning here, so I decided to cook my dinner now, and have it later today. I'll have leftovers for tomorrow, and then I'll take a break from cooking anything until the heatwave breaks on Friday.

I've been using my crock pot a lot - no heating the kitchen and I store everything in single serving containers that I can just microwave. I've done a few London broils with carrots and potatoes and I need to try something with chicken breast. I usually don't like my chicken cooking,but I suspect the crock pot would keep me from drying it out.

I rely on my crockpot and microwave a lot too but especially during the summer.

It rained last night so it's cooler now. Not sure how long the cool weather will last though.
