This is the intro to one of the most genuinely scary short stories I have ever read. If you haven't read it, you should.

It's way more chilling than The Hunger Games. I had forgotten just how scary it is. The writing is superb, though.

I know what you mean. "The Hunger Games" is a good series but it's not nearly as scary.

I'm sure you can find it on Amazon. It's very well-known and I'd suggest getting her books "The Haunting of Hill House" and "We Have Always Lived In The Castle" as well.

Shirley Jackson - what a brilliant author! I loved "The Lottery", although I found it after I had read "Haunting at Hill House". Chilling, perfect, so very worth reading again and again.
