My dog makes sure that I am informed of every single leaf that blows past the window - she is extremely proud that none have ever escaped her attention, and alerts me with the loudest barking she can muster, whether I am sleeping or not. Without her dogged vigilance I might not realise that we are in such danger from the predatory leaves, and so it is lucky that I am blessed with such a brave little friend. Indeed, she does not stop barking and jumping up at the window, sometimes pulling the curtains down, until the threat is well past. It is only then she allows me to praise her extravagantly for her superior and courageous protection abilities! (If I don't she sits in front of me smacking her lips and sulking for England.)
