The Month in Review

It's been a weirdly hectic month, that's for sure. I've tried to get everything all set for winter and while there is more yet to do (as always), I think I've gotten things pretty well under control.

I've also found a couple of free knitting and crocheting patterns so it looks as if I will be trying to learn how to do that. I haven't tried either since I was a kid, so this should be a very interesting project indeed. There is also an exquisite shawl pattern as well that I am just *dying* to get but it's definitely at the advanced/expert level, so that will remain a dream. (I might just buy the pattern anyway though because it is *sweet* :)

I had a dr. check-up earlier this month and everything seems ok, which is always good news. Even better, I have *officially* lost 10 lbs. :) So now all I need to do is try and keep at it -- which would be helped if the local highway project would just wind up. As it is, I spend almost as long waiting on the road as it takes to drive in to Hastings. The only day I go in is on Sunday, which is a real pain. Hopefully things will settle down now that November is here -- but then again, maybe not. Just have to wait and see, I guess. I've tried taking the gravel a couple of times but with harvest in full swing, all I end up with is tire repairs.

My glasses (which are seven years old) broke; luckily it was only the frame 'arms' and not a lens. I've managed to get enough tape on the frame so they will hold but even so, they are now giving me a headache. Plus, they are too old to repair but luckily I have an appointment with the eye dr. next Wednesday. So I will plan on getting new ones then. Besides, it's been just long enough since my last visit that I am nearly positive I will need a new lens Rx.
