Reading Speed Test

Take a reading speed test (and see how long it would take you to read some well-known books) today in Critical Linking:

It would take the average person 424 days to read Game of Thrones. Could you read it quicker?
Can I? You betcha! ;)
According to their test, it would take me 56 days to read the GOT *series* -- and that is giving me 3 hrs. per day to read.
Times on other books:
Lord of the Rings: 18 days
Les Mis: 17 days (7 days! Because our lit prof wanted everyone to read a specific translation, since none of us were that fluent in French -- and the books never showed until *just before* term ended.)
Ulysses: 8 days (I'm not sure how long it took because it was the final lit class I took at university, and we spent the whole term on it.)
East of Eden: 7 days (I know it was less than seven days because at the time I wasn't permitted to read on week-ends. It was also summer vacation/holidays, which meant I had more free time.)
The Hobbit: 3 days
As for Hobbit/LotR: I spent a whole summer reading these -- or rather, *savoring* them when I was 8 or 9. This was long before the Silmarillion was published and the people at the bookstore told me that 'Hobbit' set things up for 'LotR' and to be sure to read that one first. So I have always had a special fondness for 'Hobbit' as a result. My only regret is that I did not think of writing the Professor a fan letter (he was still alive at the time). I like to think he would have been amused by it though, since I was very horse-crazy (a madness that afflicts me to this day ;) and I probably would have burbled happily about Rohan and the Mearas in a letter.
