About Last Week -- and This Week

So, last week...

It was not a very good week, I'm sorry to say.

First, I received news that my cousin Jim died unexpectedly, from complications following heart surgery. He'd been planning a family reunion, and the family has decided to go ahead with it. It will be sometime in August -- probably mid-August -- but the date isn't definite yet.

So for anyone in MN, WI or along the 'interstate corridor' from Chicago on north, let me know and maybe we can have a chance to meet up.

Secondly, my cousin Ellen had the automatic sprinklers go off in her apartment. Everything is a big mess and she won't be able to move back for at least two months -- or until the cleaners get the mess cleaned up and pass inspection (or whatever it is that they do.)

Thirdly, the city has a big "beautification" effort going on and unsurprisingly, I am in the middle of several projects. This week has been mostly getting the house ready to paint -- and painting -- as well as trying to do some inexpensive lawn repairs.

So if I seem to be around less than usual and making fewer comments, that's why.

Oh wow, so sorry about your cousin, but total kudos on keeping the schedule for the reunion.

If you're passing through the Twin Cities, let's try and meet up for a bit. I'd love to meet you - always have a great time with my on-line friends when I get a chance to see them in RL. Message me when you have a better hold of your schedule.

The reunion will probably be a little bittersweet; otoh, the last time I visited with him in person, we had a great time. Such a happy memory.

The reunion is definitely planned for August, probably mid-month so it will be just before school starts. Other than that, hard to say.

I've definitely had better weeks, to be sure. And painting always gives me a real feeling of accomplishment -- outdoor painting even more so.
