Name five ‘non-sexual kinks’ you have as a reader/writer: that is, five writing techniques, themes, settings, or character types that really draw you into a story. (If they are different for you as a reader than as a writer, please name both!)
1. Music. I love listening to music when I write because a lot of times it helps me get in the right mood. As to what kind of music, that all depends on what I'm writing and why. I like to listen to anything and everything; I am always looking for something new to me.
2. Backstory. I love writing backstory for established characters. I think the main reason is while that I might know the 'end' of something to me the big question is: but how did we get there? And then try and decide what is most plausible.
3. The Cook. A lot of times I will write about The Cook because I grew up around great cooks and it didn't take me long to learn that they were the real rulers of the house. The Cook is my tribute to my grandmas, mom, aunts and last but hardly least, my godmother. That is why you will often find cooks (or cooking) in my stories. And yes, some of the things are definitely based on real-life incidents.
4. Crossover/fusion. I love experimenting like this though I don't do it often. Probably because I want to do as much research as I can to avoid as many loose ends as possible. If it's done right it can be great -- but other times... eep!
5. England. And by England, I mean England, Scotland, Wales, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. (And while we're at it, let's add in the US and Ireland -- and any place else I might have missed -- to the mix, shall we? Yes, we shall. :)
Seriously though, if not for England I probably wouldn't be writing. There is so much to read and enjoy and *watch* on tv/movies that there is (almost!) an overwhelmingly rich 'feast' to enjoy. To say nothing of places to go, people to see... After all, doesn't Sutton Hoo = Meduseld? In my book it does! Right now I am trying to think of how to cross The Hollow Crown/The White Queen with Game of Thrones... which means I need to re-watch a few things. What a hardship, eh? ;)

Date: 2014-04-15 01:01 am (UTC)I don't write in total silence -- I think I used to write that way but now with the furkids, there is no such thing as quiet. Especially with Naz -- it can be all nice and quiet so that I think everyone is napping when all at once, SHRIIIIEEEK!!!! for no reason at all, that is the worst part. Just... yeah. >>>.<<<
Maybe by the end of summer I will have the back bedroom fixed so that I can set up my computer in there... of course, then there is the issue of bark/howl/scratching at the door... :/
