I live in constant fear of the effect social media has on my son's generation. He is a gentle, vulnerable soul. But so many of the social media generation have grown up with the notion that it is okay to say anything to anyone anytime in any tone with no repercussions. There's little kindness shown, and I believe these young people will carry that mindset throughout their lives and into f2f social behaviors.
