Writing Meme
Jan. 27th, 2014 11:54 pmGanked from various lj's:
1. Of the fic you’ve written, which are you most proud of?
I'm proud of all my babies. [g]
2. Favorite tense (past/present/future)?
It depends on what the fic I'm working on demands. ::shrugs:: I don't know how else to explain it.
3. Favorite POV (first/second/third/etc)?
See above.
4. What are some themes you love writing about?
Mostly gapfillers/backstory, I guess. I also like writing family life, often with a twist of the absurd (because life is like that: absurd, you know.)
5. What inspires you to write?
Anything and everything but most often music or writing. Seriously, I never know what or where fresh inspiration will come from.
6. Thoughts on critique?
Concrit is always welcome. After a certain point, I tend to be 'blind' to all but the most obvious of flaws even though I know that a lot of things can (and probably need to) be improved here and there.
7. Create a character on the spot…. NOW!
As in, an OC? Sorry, I just can't do that kind of thing right now. It will just distract me from other things.
8. Is there a character you love writing for the most? The least? Why?
It all depends on how well I can see or hear a character. If I can see or hear them well and have a feeling for them, I enjoy writing them. If not, then that is someone I will try to avoid writing if possible.
9. A passage from a WIP.
“You send others to do what you are too cowardly to finish.” Glorfindel looked angrily at Elrond. “I wonder what Gil-galad would say of his beloved herald now.”
“Don’t you dare to speak his name.”
“I have as much right as you have, and you know it. Perhaps more. You cannot order me in this.”
“Well, then.” Elrond stood and walked over to the wall where his weapons were kept and shrugged out of his formal robes. He began pulling on his armor, an odd mad glitter in his grey eyes. “We shall see who is in charge.”
“If you raise your sword to me, then it will be a battle to the death, peredhil. None of this “first blood” nonsense. You will kill me or I will kill you.”
“That suits me fine.” Elrond hissed. “I know how this will end.”
“Do not be so sure, peredhil.”
10. What are your strengths wrt writing?
Getting ideas and doing research.
11. What are your weaknesses wrt writing?
Slow typing speed, getting things to mesh the way I want, too many side stories detracting from the main one.
12. What’s your favorite place for writing resources?
Almost anywhere online. ;)
13. Who are your favorite writers?
JRR Tolkien. Shakespeare. Emily Dickinson. Poe. Twain. Shirley Jackson. Dickens. Milton. The Bronte sisters. Austen. Willa Cather. Borges. Cervantes. Cortazar. Kierkegaard. Goethe. Mary Shelley. Hugo. Dumas. Chaucer. Dante. Helen Keller. Joyce. Yeats. Hesse. N. Scott Momaday. S.E. Hinton. Mallory. Tolstoy. (I might add more tomorrow; this is only a fraction of them. ;)

Date: 2014-01-28 02:24 pm (UTC)I don't know who I would have cast as Elrond. I don't dislike Mr. Weaving as him (Elrond) but I can't really like him either. It would have been interesting to have Mr. Weaving and Mr. Rickman to change their roles in their respective series though. Alan Rickman as Elrond and Hugo Weaving as Snape... hmmmm... that might be an interesting fic there...
