Today's News and Weather Report
Oct. 16th, 2013 09:14 pmWell, it has turned colder and I seriously doubt if it will ever be warmer. Yuck. I am finishing some last bits of clean-up and getting the big dumpster fuller (I seriously doubt if it will be filled) before the company has to come and get it. The only good thing about renting it so late in the year is that there is less demand for the large dumpsters, so they are not as tough on the return as they might be in, say, the middle of construction season.
One thing I have learned through all this cleaning is just why I have such a hard time working with other people who organize. They see books, and they pack *all* books together and fill all available boxes. I, otoh, remain true to my 'training' as a librarian and separate/pack books by category into boxes, even though this means the boxes are not always completely full. But when one is fighting time, well... >>.<< Now that I am starting to unpack, I am finding all sorts of books crammed together (make that *everything* crammed together) but all fully packed.
But good grief, what a mess! I am finding my scifi in every category, including cookbooks. I am still looking for some books that I know I just bought at the library sale a few months ago but I have no clue where they might be. Plus I am finding books mixed in with clothing, dvds & cds, old newspaper clippings -- you name it. *sighs* But one of the good things is that I am finally discovering some odd books, mostly romances, that should have been donated long ago and are definitely going to get donated now! I am also finding some my mom's friends would find for me -- mostly cat-themed -- such as 'The Cat Who...', 'Sneaky Pie' Brown (both mystery series) and 'Fear Familiar' (an odd little Harlequin 'series' that featured a black cat and one that one of mom's oldest friends took special pride in finding. She was on a very tight budget and this was a serious sacrifice for her. So yes, I am keeping it.)
I am hoping that I can get back to the Y again, maybe next week if I am lucky. I am definitely not losing weight as I should and I know it is partly because I am here at home, where there is so much sitting around and sorting to do, which always makes me hungry and then... :( And that doesn't even begin to cover trying to write or catching up on writing... ::headdesk::
Last but hardly least, I just discovered that DST (Daylight Savings Time) does not end until 3 Nov. of this year. Here I was afraid I was going to miss it; no worries there, I guess.
Time for me to go and sleep now I guess. Ttyl!
