For some reason, I am not getting responses to my lj posts as fast as I should. *sighs* No idea why, so I apologize if I am late in responding. Hopefully it is sorted out now.

The weather has been fairly decent lately. Today was super-windy though. I am looking forward to spring/summer being more defined tbh.

I am trying to get to the Y much more often than I have been. The classes that are the best for me are in the morning though. That means I have to try and get mega-stuff done so I can make it in time, which is just not always possible when dealing with furkids.

Also, I am going to try and help out a "new" used book store get their books arranged. I spent one afternoon last week organizing their mystery section. It's a snap for me since I used to work in the school library and volunteered at the VA library when my dad was in hospital. Why I did not have brains enough to take library science instead of a general lit degree at uni is beyond my comprehension. Talk about stupid decisions -- that was definitely was one of my biggest!

My closet cleaning project is underway as well. I am going through things and trying to get them either put away or donated. A few things, mostly older jeans that *almost* fit, I am going to keep until the fall. If they don't fit by then, I will just have to suck it up and donate them regardless. But I have discovered that my biggest problem with jeans of any sort is that the older ones fit me best (which is why I'm hanging on to these) -- those brands seem to have been discontinued or altered. Most of the jeans I am wearing now are for men. The womens style, especially in plus-size, do not fit right: if the leg fits me, then I can't begin to close them; if I can close them, then the legs billow out like clown pants. I think a big part of the problem is the zipper -- in women's plus, they seem to be much shorter than they were a few years ago. What actually fits me best are Levi 501's but they cost the earth. :(

Writing continues but far more slowly than I would like. Far too much RL and furkids, I guess. Hopefully things will straighten out so I can try and get some actual work done. ::crosses fingers::

I have been talking to roofers and getting bids for a new roof. So far nothing definite but I hope something will happen soon.

My cousin Ellen wants me to visit her in FL. Since I do not deal well with the heat, I will go later on -- maybe Thanksgiving would work. We shall see, anyway. She also is quite keen on a cruise but I have serious doubts after all of the reecent weird things that have happened to cruise ships. (Carnival is better known as Carnivore; Disney caters to young kids and families... you get my meaning right? Otoh, if Disney were to offer a PotC cruise geared toward adults, and maybe convinced a few of the cast members to be there as well -- now I could definitely go for that! ;)

Last but hardly least, I am still working on travel plans. Right now I am aiming for a trip abroad either next year (2014) or the year after (2015). I am hoping to do NZ/AU first, then try for the UK. A trip to Canada can probably be squeezed in if I am very lucky. What I need most though, is to know if there are any special celebrations/conventions, etc. in either year so I can plan ahead and make reservations etc. if at all possible. So, wish me luck and if you have any suggestions, ideas or whatever, please give let me know!

Ok, the fur brigade is ready to help once more, so I will just go ahead and post this.

Ttyl!

501's fit me the best but they are horribly expensive here as well. I have the same problem as you with jeans - I think they estimate the waist to leg ratio wrong. We tend to have larger waists when compared to women years ago.

I used to think that but now I think that it is more of a general change in physique. Most of the clerks I have talked to recently all say that my issues are atypical for plus-size women around here. ::shrugs:: I just wish that there were a better selection.

Ok, thank you! :) I'll see what I can come up with then.

Oh, I hope you do manage to get over here, Sam! I will keep an eye out for any cons etc, although apart from the Oxford one in September (Oxonmoot) which happens every year, and is run by the Tolkien Society, I don;t know of any more. They might have the Festival in the Shire that Kev went to a couple of years ago, but was really expensive as it was primarily a literary meeting. I am sure there must be other cons for Sc-fi/Fantasy, but I've never heard of any. That's not surprising however.

People seem to keep going missing on cruise ships lately O_O I would not be so keen on going on one, either.

I am hoping that I can save enough because I just love to travel. I wouldn't mind going to a literary meeting or something less formal -- it's all good. :)
